After a long and treacherous winter (just kidding), Spring is finally here and that means it’s time to start planting flowers and veggies, cleaning the house, and decorating for the new season. Which means my weekends are filled with [Read more…]
5 Tips for Moving and Packing
In an effort to save money, the fiancé and I made a big change – we moved in with my parents! Not only are we saving money for the wedding, but we got out of a tiny apartment, and we’re also saving for a new place. Even though there are tons of perks to this move, it’s definitely been a tough a process.
It starts and ends with packing. We had to get a storage unit because we’re essentially living in my parent’s basement. Space is extremely limited and we don’t know how long it will be, which makes it hard to know what to bring and what to store.
Even if you’re not packing to store, just packing to move, these tips will still be helpful.
DIY Easter Centerpiece
Spring is here and Easter is just around the corner. That means it’s not only time to break out the Claritin, but also get out your plastic eggs and ceramic bunnies. Pastel is in full bloom and I love it!
I always look forward to decorating my house for every holiday, but Easter is one of my favorite. I love the soft undertones that Easter colors bring, the look of shabby-chic fabric bunnies, and warmth of Spring in the air. Decorating my large dining room table is my most favorite. It’s one of the focal points when you walk into my home and though it doesn’t get much use on a daily basis, I know it gets its much-needed attention during the holidays. So, it’s gotta be all dressed to impress! If you’re looking for a Pottery Barn “esk” table centerpiece, but not looking to spend the Pottery Barn bucks, [Read more…]
3 Uses for Dr. Bronner’s Soap
One of my all-time favorite products is Dr. Bronner’s Pure- Castile Soap. It comes in many scents but I use lavender, my favorite, most of the time. Dr. Bronner’s is a company with a mission of environmental and social responsibility. These soaps are certified organic and 100% biodegradable. They’re also made in the U.S.A. Dr. Bronner’s comes in both bar and a concentrated liquid form. The best feature of Dr. Bronner’s liquid soap is that it has SO MANY uses! The label on the bottle says “18 in 1 Hemp Lavender”. It has at least that many uses.
These are my top 3 favorite uses for Dr. Bronner’s Pure -Castile soap:
St. Patrick’s Day Wind Blower
Doing crafts is always a fun way to connect with children. Crafting, building, drawing and painting brings out their creative side while they learn to explore and challenge their inner artist. Drawing a circle or a cloud helps develop their fine motor skills. Something as simple as waiting for paint to dry teaches them [Read more…]
Low Fat Vegetarian Artichoke Chickpea Quesadilla
I came up with this quesadilla recipe one Saturday afternoon when I didn’t have a lot of food in the house and I didn’t want to go to grocery shopping until Sunday. When I found the artichoke hearts and chickpeas in the pantry (two of my favorite foods) I had a feeling I could come up with something tasty. Then I found the corn tortillas in the fridge and I knew that a delicious meal would soon be on my plate.
Diaper Bag Essentials
Finding the perfect diaper bag can be tricky. Knowing what to put in the diaper bag is even trickier, especially for a new mom. When I started my search I knew that I wanted a bag that looked a little more modern woman and less traditional mom. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that [Read more…]
Free Your Creativity
Creativity is about bringing forth the new. It is the search for better ways of living and being and doing. Creativity isn’t about the kind of job we have, it’s about the kind of life we live. It’s about the life we build.
We are all creative beings. Sometimes, though, we need help being creative. Here are some techniques to help unlock your creativity and invite new ideas into your life:

This Broccoli & Cheese Puffs recipe is one of my quickest, go-to bite-sized snacks that my toddler loves. They don’t take a lot of effort or forethought. They’re so tasty, I’ve been known to sneak a few myself. [Read more…]
Honey Cornbread Muffins
My family loves my cornbread muffins! They’re delicious, moist, and the honey gives them a little extra but subtle sweetness. I honestly have no problem whatsoever with boxed mixes, but I always had extra cornmeal mix in the cupboard so I came up with my own recipe. Hope you love them as much as my family does. [Read more…]

In honor of National Dog Biscuit Day, I’ve put together a quick little recipe your furry pooch is sure to love. It’s made from ingredients you probably already have in your pantry! Pumping Essentials for Every New Mother
Breastfeeding your child is a true gift that we, as women, are blessed to have. It can be a tough road to navigate in the beginning for many new mothers.
In a recent post I shared my own nursing struggles, check out My Breastfeeding Journey.
There are so many questions, physical and emotional changes, more questions, and DECISIONS! The decisions are endless! And now your decisions will not only affect you, but also your little bundle of joy. As they grow, so will the decisions that we make as their mother. Like my mom always says, “Little kids, little problems. Big kids, big problems!”
One of the first decisions we make as new moms is [Read more…]
My Breastfeeding Journey
My breastfeeding journey (like many first-time moms) began long before my little J was born.
It began with a question we all ask ourselves (and get asked by many). Breastfeed or bottle-feed? For me, I always knew I wanted to breastfeed. While I know that there are plenty of mothers who want nothing to do with it, I think breastfeeding is a challenge most moms are up for. Either way, it is a choice we are blessed to have.
What I didn’t know was what an emotional roller coaster I was in for. [Read more…]
