This Christmas I decided to make my own Sock Garland Advent Calendar for my two-year old son. He may not totally understand the concept of the Advent Calendar but I can tell he loves the mystery that surrounds getting to find out what kind of surprise is in each sock. We check it every evening after dinner; it’s quite an [Read more…]

Taco Mac & Cheese Crock-Pot Meal
If you’ve read any of my other posts, you know that I’m a crock pot mom. My Crock-Pot is a kitchen essential and without it I’d probably be feeding my kid Kraft mac and cheese every day. Not that he would object because who doesn’t love Kraft mac and cheese! When I’m not feeling extra lazy, I shelf the Kraft and whip up some of this homemade mac and cheese with a bit of a twist. One of my new favorite go-to dinner recipes is this Taco Mac & Cheese Crock-Pot Meal. I substitute the beef with [Read more…]
Turkey Football Footprint Card
If you’ve checked out any of my other posts you know I have a toddler that I love doing crafts with. Okay well maybe I’m doing the crafts and he’s chillin on the couch with his cars while I paint, glue, and glitter everything in my house. I’m hoping as he gets a little older he’ll enjoy making things with his momma a bit more. Right now, I’m working on a creative art space for my little man so check back soon for a blog post about that!
One of my favorite crafts to do with J around the holidays are hand and footprint cards for dad, grandparents, and other family members. I always try to give each card a cute holiday spin that will [Read more…]
Holiday Turkey Candy Bowl
To me, the holidays are about slowing down and taking time to enjoy friends and family. They’re also about cooking big meals, baking cookies, shopping, throwing on a jacket to play outside with the kids, and snuggling up with a warm blanket and hot cocoa. More than all of that, to me, the holidays are about giving. And [Read more…]
DIY Yarn Pumpkin Wreath
The fall season kind of snuck up on me this year. Trying to plan a wedding in the middle of the holiday season has not left much room for actual holiday planning. But I’ve been seriously missing that holiday feeling this year so I wanted to come up with an easy craft that could take my mind off wedding stuff and decorate for fall.
I’m sure if you’re inept at crafting you’ve seen the yarn pompom craze that’s been sweeping the internet. But my favorites, are the yarn balls before they become the pompom poof.
First, I made garland inspired by this post, just something simple and cute for me.
Easy Banana Protein Pancakes
I came upon this recipe when my son was experimenting with solid foods. Even from a young age, I could tell he was going to be a picky eater. I originally introduced these yummy Banana Protein Pancakes into his breakfast routine when I was trying to get him to eat more protein. He hadn’t warmed up to the idea or taste of scrambled eggs or even my famous cheese omelet (haha) so I added [Read more…]
How to Throw a Fun Filled Bridal Shower
I’m not a professional party planner by any means but one thing I sure love is throwing a good “themed” party. Birthdays, showers, and holiday parties are my favorite. One of the things I love most about throwing parties is getting to spend quality time with my friends and family. Oh, and there’s incorporating my love of all things DIY. So, when my younger sister asked me to be her co-maid of honor, not only was I truly honored but I also couldn’t wait to start planning the Bridal Shower.
In order to ensure that my sister’s bridal shower was everything she wanted I consulted her first on the theme. We decided on an elegantly [Read more…]
Bridal Shower Bucket List
A fun way to involve your party guests and get the conversations rolling is to incorporate games and interactive party props like this Bridal Bucket List. I recently hosted a garden theme waffle brunch bridal shower for my younger sister. She is getting married this December at a local farm, Old McMickey’s.
Christina and Nate love to travel all over the country to follow [Read more…]
DIY Party Photo Frame
If you read my last post, DIY Bride-To-Be Pin, you know that I’ve been diligently planning the details of my younger sister’s bridal shower. She and I both love everything DIY, especially party décor. It allows for our creative side to come out in full force! So, naturally, when it came time to start planning her bridal shower we made a list of everything we thought we could make. This DIY Party Photo Frame pairs perfectly with [Read more…]
DIY Bride-To-Be Pin
For the past few months I’ve been diligently planning the details of my younger sister’s bridal shower. She decided on a garden theme waffle brunch with gold accents for a little glitz. My nights have been spent gluing, folding, sewing, cutting, and re-gluing; I’ve got Band-Aids on multiple fingers, broken nails, and glitter everywhere. The shower went off without a hitch this past Sunday so I can finally start blogging about all the shower plans and DIY décor. One of my favorite items I made for her bridal shower is [Read more…]
DIY Calming Glitter Jar
I’ve been looking for a way to help calm my 2-year-old son when his temper gets the best of him. About 7 years ago a family member made this DIY Calming Glitter Jar for her daughter to serve the same purpose. I made a mental note to give it a try when my own child came along, you know if I needed it.
Fast forward 7 years, the terrible twos in full swing, and I’ve quickly learned that toddler tantrums are tough to deal with. When your crazed child is [Read more…]
DIY Recycling Center
I always do my best to recycle or reuse as much as possible, in hopes that maybe I can make a difference in the way that our society consumes and discards resources, materials, and objects. I’m a firm believer that waste doesn’t always have to be wasted. Recycling and reusing the products we consume not only helps the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but also helps save money, energy, and natural resources.
My favorite things to save and reuse are [Read more…]
