Recently, after making some face mists, I learned how versatile and beneficial rose water can be. Rose water is a super simple DIY beauty tonic that anyone can make in a hurry. In less than an hour, you can have a multipurpose beauty potion that is both functional and fun.
Harry Potter Wedding Sand Ceremony
Just over a month ago I got married! And now I can finally share all the intricate details.
Related: I Got Married
One thing that was really important to Nate and I when planning the wedding was to get the ceremony right. We’re not religious people and we didn’t have the traditional officiant so we planned the entire ceremony ourselves. From the beginning, I knew that I wanted unity ceremony. But not just any unity ceremony, I wanted something that truly reflected Nate and I’s interests as a couple – in other words – something nerdy.
Goal Setting and Beyond
I’ve been taking the last few days, like a lot of other people, to think about goal setting for 2018 and beyond. But this year, goal setting is more of a struggle. Most of this is due to the fact that I’m going through a lot of transition and change in different areas of my life. There have been so many milestones in my life this past year—finally finishing my bachelor’s degree, my youngest graduating high school and then starting college, and of course Christina’s wedding and all the preceding festivities.
DIY Snowman Ornaments
I tend to save scraps and odd pieces that are supposed to be discarded. I always think, “Hmmm…could I make something out of this?” That’s how I came up with these Snowman Ornaments. They are made from Ashland candle jar lids from Michaels (but you can use anything circular).
Every time I get a candle with a lid I [Read more…]
Christmas Lollipop Candies
Crafting is one of the most enjoyable Christmastime activities there is. Eating yummy treats is about a close second. Making these Christmas Lollipop Candies combines both of these holiday pleasures. They only need 6 ingredients so they’re super simple to make and they taste delicious. These ones are peppermint flavored but other extracts could be used to create different tastes. These Christmas Lollipop Candies can also double as DIY holiday decorations.
DIY Christmas Tree Wrapping Paper
This year Christmas kind of snuck up on me. If you haven’t been following our social media, you may have missed that I just got married. For the past year, wedding planning has just consumed my life. Now I’m finally ready to get into the Christmas spirit, and I wanted to do something a little different this year.
Instead of buying more (expensive) wrapping paper from all over, I wanted to make my own. And what better way than to use some materials I already have at home. First of all, a roll of kraft paper from the Dollar Tree or Walmart is perfect and will go a long way! It’s so much cheaper than a roll of traditional wrapping paper that won’t last the season. Secondly, it’s just a little more heartfelt to make your own paper. You can do all kinds of variations of this design but I thought Christmas trees were a good place to start.

What I am Thankful For
This last year has been insane. Last July I got engaged and almost everything since then in my life has been wedding or blog related. The wedding is now less than a month away and I’m just trying to make it there at this point.
Amidst all the crazy wedding stuff and getting ready for the holidays, it’s still so important to slow down and take a minute to think about and appreciate everything I am thankful.
And I certainly have a lot to be thankful for in my life.
DIY Yarn Pumpkin Wreath
The fall season kind of snuck up on me this year. Trying to plan a wedding in the middle of the holiday season has not left much room for actual holiday planning. But I’ve been seriously missing that holiday feeling this year so I wanted to come up with an easy craft that could take my mind off wedding stuff and decorate for fall.
I’m sure if you’re inept at crafting you’ve seen the yarn pompom craze that’s been sweeping the internet. But my favorites, are the yarn balls before they become the pompom poof.
First, I made garland inspired by this post, just something simple and cute for me.
How to Throw a Fun Filled Bridal Shower
I’m not a professional party planner by any means but one thing I sure love is throwing a good “themed” party. Birthdays, showers, and holiday parties are my favorite. One of the things I love most about throwing parties is getting to spend quality time with my friends and family. Oh, and there’s incorporating my love of all things DIY. So, when my younger sister asked me to be her co-maid of honor, not only was I truly honored but I also couldn’t wait to start planning the Bridal Shower.
In order to ensure that my sister’s bridal shower was everything she wanted I consulted her first on the theme. We decided on an elegantly [Read more…]
