Homemade dog treats are so easy to make and let’s face it, cheaper and healthier! With our new puppy, Hunter, I’ve probably wasted money on about 6-7 bags of store-bought treats in just the past 2 months and he doesn’t like any of them! This has made training a bit tough, as I’ve noticed he responds well to verbal positive reinforcement but much better to treats.
When I received some complimentary homemade dog treats with a purchase, Hunter absolutely went crazy for them so I decided to toss all my opened bags of store-bought treats and get to experimenting.
In the past, I made homemade Pumpkin and Peanut Dog Biscuits for our last family dog, but these seem to be a bigger hit with our new puppy Hunter. If it feels daunting, just know that they’re just as, if not easier than making homemade cookies.

Easy Homemade Dog Treats Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp creamy peanut butter
- 1 very ripe banana
- 2 cups rolled oats
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350° and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Blend oats in a food processor until smooth like flour. It’s ok if not all of the oatmeal pieces get fully blended.
- Mix peanut butter and banana until well blended. I did this part by hand.
- Add oat powder to peanut butter mixture until dough-like texture–like cookie dough.
- Roll out dough about 1/8” onto a silicon mat.
- Cut treats or use small cookie cutters for a perfect bite-sized treat. Bake for 15-17 minutes.
- Cool and serve. Store in a sealed container.
