It’s been almost a month since my husband and I started our van life adventure. It’s definitely been a whirlwind of change. Our whole world has been turned upside down and all the comforts of home have just been completely changed. We now find comfort in simpler things. Like a quiet place to sleep or a private place to shower.

Among many other routine changes, my makeup routine is different too. Back home I would pretty much go full-face every day. Now, well let’s just say, I had to buy a darker shade of foundation because my face is a different color from lack of everyday application. I will still go full-face for special occasions but most of the time it’s just inconvenient to go full-face. That being said, there are still some beauty essentials that I cannot forgo.

Here are my Van Life Beauty Essentials:
1. Leave-in Conditioner
No products found. This has been a life-saver for my hair. Being on the road, we don’t always know where our next warm shower is coming from. If all else fails, we’ll use our solar shower or our sink. But if we do that we have to use special biodegradable soap, which can be a little harsh on my hair. I make sure to use Pacifica’s Leave-in Conditioner to keep my hair healthy.
2. Sheet mask
Through temperature changes, constant heat, and sometimes long nights, my skin goes through some rough times. Sheets masks are such an easy way to rejuvenate my skin, in whatever way my skin needs it. I started using these by nature from New Zealand masks from Walmart and I love them!
3. Moisturizer
This is absolutely vital to keep my skin in good shape, especially in the elements.
4. Cleansing Water
I have also been using a micellar/cleansing water to take off makeup and clean my face. I recommend Pacifica’s Beauty Cactus Water Micellar Cleansing Tonic or Mario Badescu Facial Spray.
When it comes to actually applying make-up, I find that the below list is all I really need on any given day.
Wet N’ Wild Photo Focus Setting Spray
- Sets and Keeps Makeup in Place
- Instant Makeup Extender
- Weightless Formula for that "just-applied" look
Blush/highlighter – Pixi by Petra Beauty Blush Duo
Lipstick – Wet N’ Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Lipstick
- High-Pigmented matte finish with some serious staying power
- This lightweight formula offers precision, performance and intense pigmentation without drying the lips
- Glides on glossy and transforms into high-pigmented matte finish- lightweight formula made with serious staying power
- Vivid color, ultra-matte finish, comfortable wear
Mascara – Wild N’ Wild Mega Length
BONUS: Sunglasses – If all else fails, I stand by a good lipstick and a cute pair of sunglasses.
I can’t really afford to spoil myself with lavish brand makeup, but if I’m being honest (and if you’ve read any of my other posts), I like cheap, cruelty-free, drug-store make-up. So brands like Wet N’ Wild and elf are my go-tos anyway.

Can’t imagine living for a month in a van! I’ll check out your beauty essentials. I think that for me the most important would be the conditioner and moisturizer. Hope you’re having fun on your way! 🙂
