Just after Thanksgiving, we start decorating our home for Christmas. We never do it all at once, but instead, take our time and enjoy the process itself. When the big day actually gets closer, we may make some natural or edible decorations for an extra festive feel. These DIY Decorative Apples add just the right amount of sparkle as a holiday centerpiece or [Read more…]
DIY Fabric Covered Books
I recently started my Spring cleaning, fashionably late as always, and when I came across a bunch of old books, I paused. Wondering what to do with them, I seriously considered tossing them. After much deliberation and them sitting on the floor for about a week, I ultimately decided to keep and repurpose them as home decor props around my house. Before strategically placing them around my home I wanted to make them look a little prettier. I grabbed some [Read more…]
Master Bedroom Closet Reorganization Tips
Last year, for our anniversary, my husband gave me one of the best gifts he’s ever gotten me…a closet makeover! For the past 9 years, we’ve had the same closet with the standard wire racks all around the top. While this type of closet design is fine for most, my husband and I had been using separate closets for the past 9 years- me using our master bedroom closet and him using our son’s playroom closet. We both have way too many clothes and shoes and not enough space so it was time for a change! After multiple rack falls and fixes, I reorganized [Read more…]
Shopping Addictions and Target Wish list
Last week I wrote a post all about learning to let go – let go of all my stuff since I’m trying to downsize for my upcoming van life adventure. I wrote about how this is a serious struggle for me, not only because I tend to assign a sentimental value to a lot of things – but also because I love to shop. I didn’t emphasize that as much last week because I am working on it. But have to admit, I’m definitely a bit of a shopaholic.
DIY Custom Fridge Magnets
Do you ever see something at the store and think “I can make that”? I literally do that all the time and everyone always rolls their eyes because… can I really make that? Well over the weekend mom and I saw a really cute Christmas ornament and I said my signature catchphrase.
When I started explaining how we could actually make the ornament, I realized I’ve made something very similar before.I was instantly brought back to my days in the National Art Honor Society in High School. Back then we were making locker magnets and selling them to classmates, trying to raise money for art supplies.
Now it’s a fun little project for a rainy day. Make adorable emoji magnets or funky letters to arrange on the fridge.
Target Dollar Spot Fall Décor Finds
I know the first day of Fall isn’t until September 22nd, but by Starbucks’ calendar, it’s officially pumpkin spice season so I’m in full swing. While everyone in Florida courageously awaited the arrival of Hurricane Irma this first weekend in September, my son and I walked the bare isles of Target trying to keep our minds off what was coming. When we came upon the dollar spot (a.k.a. Bullseye’s Playground), one of our favorite sections to browse, I immediately took notice of [Read more…]
3 Step DIY Distressed Picture Frame
Lately, I have been all about DIY – I’m planning my wedding and it seems like there’s always something to DIY. This week, it’s a picture frame that’s part of a larger project (more info to come later). But you don’t have to be planning a wedding to appreciate this DIY.
You can easily buy a distressed picture frame from TJMAXX or Ross but where’s the fun in that? This simple DIY takes any old wooden frame and gives it a rustic, coastal feel.
DIY Wooden Growth Chart
Watching our babies grow up is an inevitable part of life. It’s exciting, sad, happy, fun, terrifying, and occasionally heartbreaking. Basically, a bag of emotions that we sometimes have no words for.
Sometimes just a smile tells the whole story. Other times, laying it all out on the table to anyone who will listen is what really tells the whole story. Either way, watching our babies grow up is one of the most rewarding, gratifying and yes, difficult gifts we as parents are given.
DIY Coffee & Tea Bar
Coffee Made Me Do It! It’s true, there’s something about the way it smells, tastes, and makes you feel. The instant “ahh” moment right after you take a sip will have you slurping lattes all day long. Before you know it, you’re 10 cups deep, on edge like a junky looking for [Read more…]
Target Dollar Spot Easter Finds
After a long and treacherous winter (just kidding), Spring is finally here and that means it’s time to start planting flowers and veggies, cleaning the house, and decorating for the new season. Which means my weekends are filled with [Read more…]
DIY Easter Centerpiece
Spring is here and Easter is just around the corner. That means it’s not only time to break out the Claritin, but also get out your plastic eggs and ceramic bunnies. Pastel is in full bloom and I love it!
I always look forward to decorating my house for every holiday, but Easter is one of my favorite. I love the soft undertones that Easter colors bring, the look of shabby-chic fabric bunnies, and warmth of Spring in the air. Decorating my large dining room table is my most favorite. It’s one of the focal points when you walk into my home and though it doesn’t get much use on a daily basis, I know it gets its much-needed attention during the holidays. So, it’s gotta be all dressed to impress! If you’re looking for a Pottery Barn “esk” table centerpiece, but not looking to spend the Pottery Barn bucks, [Read more…]
Nursery Dresser Organization
Let me just start by saying that J’s nursery dresser is currently the most organized dresser in the house. My dressers are pretty neat but not nearly as tidy as I’d like them to be.
The most useful nursery tip that I’ve come across and implemented: use a dresser [Read more…]
Nursery Closet Organiztion
In my house, everything has a place to belong. From my neatly arranged and alphabetized spice cabinet to my color and season coordinated wardrobe closet. Organization is the key to my happiness…and sanity.
Seven years ago when my husband and I exchanged our wedding vows, he promised to always put his socks away and try his hardest to keep the Tupperware cabinet clean. He knew in our house “an organized life equals happy wife”. Let’s just say- [Read more…]
