Organizing any part of our living or work areas can feel overwhelming. Keeping our office or home office organized usually feels more stressful because no one wants important tasks or paperwork to fall through the cracks. The purpose of being organized is to be able to find the things we need when we need them and then, hopefully, be more productive. I don’t know about you, but when I can get more things done with less stress, I’m able to spend time with the people I care about while enjoying life more. It also feels good to have a neat and attractive workspace. If this sounds good to you, check out my go-to 10 Office Organization Ideas and keep your office organized and clutter-free.
Learning to Let Go
Last week, I cut my hair for the first time since August 2015. My stylist cut 12 inches off and I do not miss that hair for a second. I don’t cut my hair very often and it grows pretty fast so I’m not very attached to it. Which is odd for me because I am usually attached to everything.
My big problem with letting things go is that I tend to assign a sentimental value to a lot of things. Or I feel like I’m going to need it and can find a way to use it. On top of not letting stuff go easily, I also really love shopping.
How To Make Decluttering Easier
Decluttering possessions is something I tend to do on an ongoing basis, and I do a lot of it right after the holidays. It’s the perfect time to declutter, of course, because with so many new items to put away, old ones have to go. This is so true when you have small children and they receive a barrage of new toys for Christmas!
This January I’ve done a lot of decluttering. Even though I’ve always done my usual decluttering, this year was different. For the past several years, my extra time has been taken up by health issues surrounding my [Read more…]
5 Tips for Moving and Packing
In an effort to save money, the fiancé and I made a big change – we moved in with my parents! Not only are we saving money for the wedding, but we got out of a tiny apartment, and we’re also saving for a new place. Even though there are tons of perks to this move, it’s definitely been a tough a process.
It starts and ends with packing. We had to get a storage unit because we’re essentially living in my parent’s basement. Space is extremely limited and we don’t know how long it will be, which makes it hard to know what to bring and what to store.
Even if you’re not packing to store, just packing to move, these tips will still be helpful.
A Mover’s Guide to Decluttering
Packing and figuring out what to do with everything I’ve been hoarding the past 4 years is such a pain. The fiancé and I have been moving for what feels like an eternity! It’s been weeks of decluttering and packing! We’ve lived together in our 620 square foot apartment for 4 years, how can we have this much stuff??
My advice to anyone moving – start packing early and start decluttering even earlier. I was so excited to declutter because I thought it would take some of the stress out of moving. The more you get rid of the less you’ll have to physically move and the less “crap” you’ll have to unpack when you get there. Remember that same feeling of “what the heck do I do with this?” before the move is the same after the move.
New Year’s Resolutions You Can Keep
New year new you, right?! How many New Year’s Resolutions have you made, promised to keep, and already broken?
Let’s face it, most New Year’s Resolutions are just bad habits that we desperately need or want to change. And changing our habits overnight, at the drop of a ball, aren’t easy. I find that my New Year’s Resolutions are more likely to be kept when I [Read more…]
