Fall is here, and it’s the perfect time to add a touch of whimsy to your porch decor. This DIY Mossy Witch Hat is an easy-to-assemble project that’s affordable, cute, and fun to make. Its natural mossy look is perfect for the outdoors, and you can assemble it now and keep it out for Halloween.
DIY Mossy Witch Hat
Supplies
1 Witch Hat (Walmart or Amazon)
Preserved Green Spanish Moss (Amazon or Walmart)
Newspaper or empty grocery bags
1 Sheet of Black Felt
1 Pumpkin (Dollar Tree)
Directions
Fill the witch hat with crunched-up newspaper or empty grocery bags to keep it propped upright.
Glue on the sheet of felt to hold the paper or bags in.
Place the hat on top of your pumpkin to see how you want it to lay. Depending on the type of pumpkin you are placing it on top of, you may need to cut a small hole in the felt.
If you’re adding light to a hollow pumpkin, tape the battery pack and strings on the inside. I recommend lights with silver strands and a clear battery pack. Mine are black and I’m not loving how you can see it thru the pumpkin but I’ll switch it out later.
Begin gluing on the moss to cover as much of the black as possible.
Wrap a piece of ribbon at the base of the hat and glue it. You can also wrap the hat in twinkle lights. I put my lights inside of a plastic pumpkin.
