If you have young children that don’t naturally like to color or draw, color by numbers worksheets are a great tool to help get your child interested in coloring— an activity that helps develop some much-needed skills for their future. After noticing this issue with my son, I sparked his interest in coloring by finding color by number themes he likes. It’s also why I’ve created this special Rocket Launch Color by Numbers worksheet. You can get it totally free at the end of this post.
When I first started homeschooling my son at age 2, I primarily focused on letters and numbers, and we did a lot of crafts together but coloring kind of fell by the wayside. As he got older, I just assumed when he was ready to pick up the crayons, he would. Not true!

As adults, we may think coloring is unimportant in the grand scheme of things. And to some extent that is true. But as a child, coloring, and drawing helps develop skills that we as adults have already come to master.

By the time my son started VPK at age 4, I started to really notice how much he disliked coloring and drawing. He would come home with coloring worksheets that were almost entirely incomplete. Most might brush that off as nothing important or worth worrying about but, of course, I read more into it and made it my mission to get him more interested in coloring. I immediately downloaded loads of Pokemon, cars, space, animal color by numbers, and it was like the switch finally came on! It immediately sparked his interest in coloring.
