I’m back at it again with hand and footprint cards this Mother’s Day. The last few cards I’ve made were with J’s footprint because I couldn’t quite get him to be still enough to use his handprint. He was always squirming around or fighting to get out of my arms and play with the paint. Somehow the feet were just quicker and easier to capture.
This Mother’s Day card I managed to make with some paper plates, Crayola Washable Paint, and construction paper. If you have a toddler running around your house, then you probably already have all three items on hand.
Spread paint color of your choice (I used popsicle sticks) onto your child’s hand and press onto the back of a paper plate. Continue this step at least 6-7 times.
Next, cut out a circle using the middle of a paper plate. Paint it the color of your choice.
Cut out each handprint.
Attach each handprint around the back of the circle to form a flower.
Cut a strip of brown construction paper to be the flower. Cut 2 green leaves. Lastly, cut out a piece of paper to form a pot.
Glue all the pieces together to form a flower.
Write a little message on the back to Mom, Grandma, or whomever you’ll be gifting this Paper Plate Handprint Mother’s Day Card to.
Let your child sign their own name for extra cuteness and don’t forget to date it. Once you have a collection of these hand and footprint cards, it will be fun to look back and see how much your babies have grown over the years.

Hi! I’m Meagan and I’m a 41 year old mom of a high energy almost 9 year old, happily navigating my way through the little boy years. I’ve been married for 14 years. I met my husband over 20 years ago in high school; we got married 10 years later after graduating from the University of South Florida. I currently help run a family business with my parents while blogging about my life and love of DIY projects!
When I’m not at a kids sports game, I enjoy spending time with my family on a beach anywhere. I also love decorating and organizing, fun DIY projects, bargain shopping, and eating out or in! I also love Barbecue anything and a good show or movie on Netflix.
I love how the simplicity of the paper plate handprint mother’s day card doesnt take away from the love and creativity behind it. I remember making hand prints for my mom usually a turkey. This is a great idea for Dad’s to get their kids to create for the Mom’s in their life!

This is so cute! I like the idea. I should try it with my neighbours who I take care off. I’m sure they’re gonna like it.
This is such a cute idea! I know this kind of card would mean so much more to me than a regular store bought card!
This is such an adorable and fun craft to do for springtime and Mother’s Day!
What a cute and heartwarming gift for a mom from the precious little one! This def beats any HAllmark card!
