Helpful Kitchen Tools to Make the Best Halloween Bat Cookies
1. Wooden Rolling Pin
Rolling pins are a must-have for any baking recipe. I love wooden ones because they’re so easy to clean and less dough sticks to them. Plus, I love the classic, neutral look of wooden kitchen tools, especially if you like to leave some on the counter like I do.
2. Silicone Baking Mat
I started using silicone baking me tell you what a game changer it was! First, I don’t have to worry about every little speck being cleaned off of the counter because I just take these out and wipe them down with a damp paper towel before and after. The dough comes off easily and doesn’t stick. I love them!
3. Baking Sheet
I like the flat cookie sheets rather than the classic lipped ones because it’s easier to slip a spatula around so this is one of my go-to cookie sheets.
4. Silicone Basting Pastry Brushes
Silicone pastry brushes like these make it so easy to apply icing without having to worry about bristles being left behind. Plus, they’re so easy to clean in the dishwasher rather than by hand like most of the wooden-handled pastry brushes.
5. Large Cookie Spatula
I invested in one of these large cookie spatulas about 2 years ago and I have asked myself every time I make cookies “why did it take me so long to find you”? I love this baking tool! You can grab more than just 1 cookie off of the cookie sheet and it has a very fine edge to avoid breakage.
6. Cookie Cooling Racks
This set of 3 cooling racks comes in so handy for cookie baking all year round. I have 2 sets for serious cookie season (Christmas) and they have lasted me over 8 years now.
7. Bat Cookie Cutter
Last but not least, the bats! You can use any bat cookie cutter but I like these because there are a few sizes.

Ingredients
- 1 Box of Pillsbury Pie Crust
- 3 tbsp Powdered Sugar
- Cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Remove pre-made Pillsbury pie crust from the refrigerator about 15 minutes before making cookies to let the dough thaw.

- Press the Bat Cookie cutter into the dough and then remove it to place on a non-stick cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove the cookies and place on cooling racks.
- Mix up about 3 tbsp. of powdered sugar with a few drops of water until it makes an icing texture. Add a few sprinkles of cinnamon and mix.
- Using a silicone pastry brush, apply the icing to the cookies while they're still warm, and then let them cool before serving.
