If you’re anything like me and you have a problem working greens into your diet, then you have to try my Green Energy Smoothie recipe. I’ve been drinking this every morning for the past 4 months, and it has changed my life!
Prior to starting my Green Energy Smoothie morning ritual, I rarely ate enough vegetables. On average I was eating 1 fruit and 1 veggie a day! Not fitting for the healthy lifestyle I try to lead. Forget about the daily recommended serving, which is 2 fruits and 3 vegetables.
This was the main reason I started drinking my Green Energy Smoothie–for the vegetables! I needed to start incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet. And one way I do it is by starting off my morning with one of these delicious Green Energy Smoothies filled with spinach, cucumbers, avocado, apples, and blueberries.
I rotate them throughout the week so I don’t get sick of the same taste, and I feel great knowing that my body got the necessary fruits and veggies it needs to feel great. I also add protein powder, almond butter, and unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Make sure you use vanilla almond milk or it won’t taste as good.
One of the best ingredients I add to my smoothie is coconut oil. Coconut oil has natural saturated fat—don’t be scared of healthy fats like coconut oil and avocado! Coconut oil helps convert bad cholesterol into good cholesterol and avocados are rich in potassium and fiber. To get some extra Omega-3s, fiber, and iron I also toss in some chia seeds and flax seeds.
I don’t drink my Green Energy Smoothie to lose weight, although it certainly fills me enough to be a meal replacement. I drink it because it’s a quick way to make sure I get some healthy fruits, veggies, and fat into my body.

I’ll tell you, the vanilla almond milk, vanilla protein powder, almond butter, and coconut oil sure give it a great taste. The veggies are really just an after taste. Give it a try.
