I Got Married!
After over a year of planning, stressing, and more planning – we did it! I got married on December 9th, 2017! It was on a farm with a big red barn and animals everywhere, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. There were so many times during the planning process that I literally said: “can we just elope?” But in the end, it was more than worth it. I wish I could just relive it.
And now that it’s over I can tell you more about it!
Nerdy Wedding Ceremony Ideas
If you haven’t noticed by now, I am getting married this year. It’s less than 3 months away and while we’ve been planning nonstop, there’s always more to do. One important thing to do is plan the wedding ceremony.
My fiance – Nate – and I are both super nerdy and want to incorporate that into our wedding. One place we want to incorporate more nerdiness is in the ceremony. An obvious choice is a quote or reading but my concern has always been the unity ceremony.
Most unity ceremony ideas I’ve seen are of the standard garden variety. I have yet to find one that incorporates any kind of nerd-flare. Needless to say, I’ve been brainstorming for a while. For us, our 3 biggest fandoms are Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Dr. Who. So anything we do has to incorporate one of those.

Nerd Engagement Photos
Almost a year ago my fiance and I got engaged! We’ve been together about 8 years and this has been a long time coming.
Two months or so ago we finally had our engagement photos taken. I was worried that I’d be kind of awkward because I’m generally a pretty awkward person. But it was easy to stand around and show how much I love my fiance. It was also fun to play around and see what worked for the both of us!
We also wanted to bring an element of nerdiness to the session because we’re both pretty big nerds. It was important to include this aspect of our relationship because it really bonds us together.
