I am so excited to review this month’s Ipsy bag! I was almost afraid something happened to my bag because I got it so late this month. But I think with all the hurricane commotion here in Florida, it might have been pushed back a little. I don’t know, but I’m happy I finally got it!
If you don’t know what Ipsy is you are seriously missing out! It’s a $10 monthly subscription service where you receive 5 makeup products in a cute makeup bag. The products range from drugstore brands to high-end brands. They are also a decent mix of sample size and full-size products. It’s such a good deal and a great way to try out different products.
So let’s jump into the reviews!
Luxie Beauty
LUXIE ROSE GOLD MEDIUM ANGLED SHADING EYE BRUSH 207
I always love trying a new makeup brush but Luxie is one of my favorites. I have received a few of these in Ipsy bags in the past and they never disappoint. The brush itself is so pretty with the rose gold handle and the two-toned bristles. It’s similar to a blending brush I’ve received but it’s angled which, I’ve actually never used for my eyes. It definitely gives a different application than the regular blending brush that I’m used to. I’m really excited to keep using this brush.

Organic Infused Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Deception
This is another product I have received in the past from Ipsy and I’m not always satisfied. It’s hard when you can tell a product has a good formula but you don’t like the color. So I would never get the use out of it that I wanted. But that’s not the case this time around because I LOVE THIS COLOR. I feel like I’m experiencing the brand for the first time. What I love about it is the way it feels, it’s light and dries fast with a gel effect. It’s also an organic formula that’s not tested on animals. I love it.

Eva NYC
Zero Gravity Volume Powder
This is an interesting product that I’ve never heard of before. It reminds me of when boys would put product in their hair to make it look dirty and messy, back in the early 2000’s when that was cool. I’m not sure if this is a great product for me, I don’t style my hair very often and I already have a lot of volume. I may have to give this product to someone else. I think it has potential to work, even as a dry shampoo. Overall, not sure about this product.

Pixi by Petra
Beauty Blush Duo in Peach Honey
This product says it’s a blush duo, however, it seems to work better as a highlighter. The colors are gorgeous – the blush tone is a shimmery peach and the other side is warm shimmery gold. Like I said, it’s more like a highlighter so I’ve used the peach over my normal blush and blended the actual highlighter on the top of my cheekbones. I love this brand too because it’s not tested on animals and it feels like a high-end brand but you can buy it at Target! This is definitely a great fall product!

ColourPop Cosmetics
Lippie Stix in Glam Bag
I saved the best review for last because I am SO EXCITED to finally try Colourpop! I have heard so many great things about this brand. Their liquid lipsticks and their eyeshadows are supposed to be amazing. This is a more traditional style “lippie stix” that is seriously amazing. The color is not my favorite, it’s a little too bright for my normal taste but that doesn’t matter in this case. The formula and the product is so amazing I will make it my taste. It just applies so smooth like velvet. And even though it is matte, it doesn’t dry down so it’s super hydrating. You better believe I will be purchasing more of these Lippie Stix in different colors.

Hi Christina, I’m so glad your safe in Florida. I just got through Hurricane Harvey in Houston and so glad that every one is recovering and safe close to me. Anyways, love your post. I’m always on the look out for really good makeup products, but I often get confused which ones to try. Ipsy sounds like a good deal, getting samples to try and find favorites. I’m loving that Rose Gold Shading Eye Brush and the Colourpop Lippie Stix. Often with I find Matt Lipsitcks drying, but glad to hear this one isn’t like that. I’m currently looking for a new foundation that doesn’t look caked on and stays on even when sweating. Any recommendations? I might just try Ipsy. Thanks for the review.
I’m happy to hear you’re safe and recovering. I can’t even imagine going through what you did or what anyone in Texas had to experience. But I’m glad you’re safe.
I feel like I’m the same way with makeup sometimes, where I get overwhelmed because there is so much to try. I always start with what’s affordable and with brands I like. I experience the same thing with foundations, we’re probably similar because of the humidity in Texas and Florida. For a long time, I used the liquid Stay Matte Not Flat by NYX which I absolutely LOVE. But recently (about 2 months ago) I tried Flawless Finish by elf. I’d heard so many great things about it and it’s fairly cheap – only $6 – so I figured I’m not losing much if it’s a dud. But I love it! It has really great coverage and it’s so smooth. I don’t feel like it’s caked on at all. And I think it matched my skin tone really well too. SO I’ve been using that ever since. I also use the NYX finishing powder in Banana which I think it really great instead of using the powder foundation. So I would definitely recommend either one of these foundations. I think the elf one helps keep my skin from looking oily while the NYX one is a little dewier but it still works great. And they’re both decent price points. Let me know if you try one and what you think!
Good luck with everything :)!
Such great, honest reviews. The Lippie Stix sound amazing. I always love a velvet finish for any of my lip products, so this sounds perfect. So excited to hear that you liked it!

The Ipsy bag sounds awesome. The eye brush looks so cute. Thanks for sharing.
I’m going to have to check out these ipsy boxes one day! I’ll definitely tell my sister about them, though, because she LOVES makeup. I don’t wear makeup, but I should probably wear some, haha.
It’s just a fun little treat! You do you though, makeup isn’t for everyone. It’s like a hobby for me lol.
I love the lippie stick. It is just the right size to take along everywhere. I love to color too. The Pixi Blush Duo would be perfect for my skin tone. Thanks for the review. I will go get these products for myself. Even a stay at home mom like me needs a little confidence boost from time to time. 🙂
