Last year I did a post all about my favorite podcasts. Well, it’s been a year and I find myself listening to a whole new set of podcasts. I absolutely love them! I listen to them on long drives, while I get ready in the morning for work, and pretty much any time I have spare time.
There is literally a podcast for everything. If you like TV there is probably a podcast all about your favorite show. If you like politics there are no shortage of those. There are mommy podcasts, there are feminist podcasts – whatever you can think of I bet you can find a podcast about it.
You may notice a little bit of a pattern in the podcasts I like right now, but here are my top 5 podcast recommendations:
BOF Podcast
BOF stands for Best of Friends and this podcast is all about the 90’s classic sitcom favorite – Friends! Jamie Woodham, Erin Mallory Long, and Krista Doyle host the podcast together, each week rewatching and discussing each episode from the very beginning. They don’t overanalyze but they do touch on the subjects, the jokes, the setup, and sometimes whether or not it would hold up in today’s time. It definitely helps if you do the rewatch with them so you have the episodes in your mind as you listen. The podcast is so much fun to listen to as you get to know the hosts and share their love of Friends.

Carrie On: The Sex and the City Podcast
As you can tell this podcast is all about the HBO hit Sex and the City. I understand that this show isn’t for everybody. Not everyone has seen all the episodes so much that they don’t feel the need to do a complete rewatch along with them (who me?). But if you do love the show and want to hear other people seriously, explicitly, and passionately analyze Sex and the City, then this podcast is for you. They also compare it to today’s world and whether or not it would hold up now, or how the plot points and storylines would be different if they characters existed today. What I love about this is podcast is how much the hosts are unabashedly in love with Sex and the City. Kat and Alec Wells, a husband and wife duo along with a rotating guest list of their closest friends each show makes it so lovable!

Game of Microphones
See the pattern emerging yet? This podcast is all about Game of Thrones! I started listening to this podcast a few years ago around season 5 or 6 of GOT. They watch the show each week and then analyze and discuss it on the podcast. Recently, when season 7 ended, the podcast decided to do a rewatch from the beginning of season 1 (to fill the long void until season 8). If you love Game of Thrones at all this podcast is for you. They are so passionate and so knowledgeable about the whole series. They even have an entire segment called Book Talk, which compares the show with the books. Some of the hosts talk about the show as if it were real and I just love their conviction.

Unladylike
Changing directions a little bit – this is a feminist podcast, a podcast all about women hosted by Cristen and Caroline. I listen to another podcast called Stuff Mom Never Told You and these two lovely ladies used to be the hosts of that show. Now they’ve struck out on their own and created a new brand. Each episode shares interviews and segments based on a weekly topic, always pertaining to women. They just started out and they only have a few episodes so far but they are a great weekly podcast to tune in to.

Hags
Hags is another feminist based podcast hosted by Riley Rose Critchlow and Nicole Wyland. They are two incredibly smart and rage-filled women who use words that typically describe women to steer their weekly episodes. They usually always break off into tangents about personal experiences and their lives in general. They’re so real, so relatable, and so much fun to listen to! This is definitely an explicit podcast so I wouldn’t listen to it with kids nearby. Other than that I say dive right in. They talk about what’s really going on in the world as it relates to women and I love them. I wish I was friends with them.

Bonus: Pod Save America
This is a political podcast hosted by former members of the Obama campaign. They’re extremely knowledgeable of what’s going on in Washington DC right now and they’re funny! The also have some other podcasts called Pod Save the World where they talk about international politics and another called Pod Save the People which is a little more social. I haven’t gotten into those and I don’t listen to this one every week. But if you’re into this sort of thing and you like politics this should be a good listen for you.

Every time I post something about podcasts I get a lot of comments saying they’d like to get into them. It’s so easy to find a podcast to listen to. You can listen to the purple iPhone app, Soundcloud, Spotify, Stitcher Radio – the list goes on and on. I just know that I like to listen to people talking and it’s fun! In a weird way, you feel like you get to know people more personally too. It feels like such an intimate way to talk about and connect about the things you love.
So let me know in the comments below what you’re listening to! Have you tried a podcast? Do you have recommendations for me? I’m all ears!
Christina is a twenty-something living with her beagle, Mash, and husband, Nate in their van. She loves traveling, shopping, art, and photography. She’s also a vegetarian, pop-culture enthusiast, book-lover, and Dave Matthews Band fanatic. Catch her somewhere around the country in a converted camper van or at home in Florida for a visit.

I used to listen to a Walking Dead podcast, and now that the show is back on I’ll probably get back to it. That Game of Thrones podcast sounds pretty awesome as well!
I wish I listened to more podcasts, especially whilst I’m working on my computer. I tend to just put Judge Judy on (don’t judge me for it haha – pun not intended!) and have that going on in the background.
I would love to try out the Friends one though, brings back so many comfortable memories and I’m not sure if I could actually watch another episode again lol.
These suggestions are mega and have my curiosity going…
I LOVE listening to podcasts! I feel like time goes by so much faster especially on long drives. Friends is one of my favorite shows, I am so excited to listen to that podcast specifically and see what they say about the show! Thanks for sharing these awesome podcasts!
