I just got back from a week-long vacation (if you follow our social media, you may have noticed) and I received my Ipsy bag the day before I left. So I haven’t had much of a chance this past week to try anything out.
I used to like waiting a few weeks before reviewing the products so I could have a chance to try them all. But by that time I find that everyone has moved onto their excitement for the next month’s bag. So I want to share my first impressions of my June Ipsy Bag.
The glam bag itself is super cute! It’s light canvas with white polka dots and a big ol’ pair of lips on the front. It’s small and lightweight, perfect for summer!
Kokie Cosmetics
Nail Polish – Atlantis at Last
The first thing I thought when I saw this product was: amazing packaging! While I don’t need the cardboard box it came in (waste much?), the packaging of the bottle itself is so cute and edgy! The second thought I had: I’ll probably never wear this color. I have a similar color from SinfulColors that I only wear once a year – that’s if my Tampa Bay Lightning go to the Stanley Cup playoffs. This color is the brightest cobalt blue ever! I’m also disappointed to learn that there was another color that I would have preferred to receive.
theBalm Cosmetics
Balm Springs Blush
I’m always excited to try anything from theBalm and this long-wearing blush “In Full Swing” is no exception! The packaging is already a big step up from the usual sample size – which is hardly big enough for an eyeshadow blending brush, let alone a blush brush. It’s also the perfect peachy summer color.
NYX Professional Makeup
Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé
I was so excited when I saw this in my Ipsy bag preview! I love trying lip products. This one has a great concept for not just lips but cheeks and eyes too for the new monochromatic trend. I’m really going to try to wear this color. It’s not normally something I gravitate towards – it’s a pinky nude called plush – and it’s way out of my comfort zone. But I guess that’s what trying new things is about! When I swatched it, it was light and smelled really good, so always a plus.

Uncover DETOXIFYING MUD MASK
Another thing I am always down to try – face masks! I know they can be tricky, some people have sensitive skin. But who isn’t doesn’t love a good facemask?
DOUCCE
Maxlash Volumizer Mascara
My first thought when I saw a mascara in my Ipsy bag was instant disappointment. I used to love trying a new mascara, but I’ve recently realized I cannot wear non-waterproof mascara. It’s just not my thing. In fact, I plan on writing a post about it soon. However, I still plan on trying it. It can’t hurt, I’m just not going to get my hopes up.
Overall, I’m not super impressed with this bag. I think it could have been tailored to my preferences a little more with the nail polish and lip colors. I think I even removed mascara from my preferences as something I want to receive. So, this bag has been a little disappointing at first glance. But I won’t let that get me down, there’s more time to use them!

I’ve been curious about boxycharm too. But I like how cheap Ipsy because if I don’t like the products I don’t feel so bad. Kokie packaging is super cute though!
