This week I’m making holiday bath bombs!
Bath bombs are great all year around, but they’re also a great little holiday gift. You can make them for a hostess gift or even secret Santa – because who doesn’t love a nice warm bath once in a while? Especially you! You can always keep them for yourself and take a break from the holiday hustle and bustle.
These bath bombs are fairly easy to make. I found the original recipe here and while I didn’t change the ingredients, I did change the theme.
I bought holiday candy molds from Michaels (but you can also find them on Amazon, which I have linked) in the shapes of Christmas trees, snowflakes, and wreathes. You can always change the mold and have a bath bomb for a different holiday – a heart for Valentine’s Day or a pumpkin for Halloween – or just regular spheres for anytime. I recommend getting molds that have at least 12 spaces altogether. I realized afterward that I made a little too much for the 8 spaces I had in my 2 sets of molds.

Let’s make some bath bombs!
Wisk all dry ingredients below together in large mixing bowl. When thoroughly mixed together, separate evenly into 3 bowls.
- 1 Cup Baking Soda
- ½ Cup Citric Acid
- ½ Cup Epsom Salt
- ½ Cup Corn Starch
In 3 smaller bowls mix the liquid ingredients as follows:
*Be sure to mix liquid ingredients all together BEFORE adding to dry mixture for best results.
1st Bowl:
- 1 Tsp Almond Oil
- ½ TBSP Water
- ¼ Tsp Peppermint oil
- Blue Soap dye (15-30 drops, your preference)
2nd Bowl:
- 1 Tsp Almond Oil
- ½ TBSP Water
- ¼ Tsp Lavender Oil
- ¼ Tsp Lemon
- Green Soap Dye (mix blue and yellow) (15-30 drops, your preference)
3rd Bowl:
- 1 Tsp Almond Oil
- ½ TBSP Water
- ¼ Tsp Cinnamon Oil
- Red Soap Dye (15-30 drops, your preference)
Mix each liquid bowl, one at a time, into a corresponding bowl of dry ingredients with a spoon.
Be VERY cautious when mixing the liquid into dry powder – liquid will react with dry powder so you want to pour the liquid in slowly, a little bit at a time, then mix it as soon as possible. Repeat until it’s all mixed together. The less fizzing and reaction you get, the less porous the bath bombs will appear when they’re dry.
When everything is mixed together, pack the mixture into molds of your choice. I added some body glitter I had into the molds, if you want to do the same, add before you pack the mixture in.
Let molds sit for 24 hours so they can fully harden.
When they’re dry, place in a decorative bowl and/or wrap in tissue paper for a nice little holiday gift!
