Do you or your kids love scavenger hunts? Mine does! In recent years I have started to incorporate scavenger hunts into our gift-giving holidays to make them a little more fun and interesting. These Christmas Scavenger Hunt Clues are one of my favorites!
With Christmas just around the corner, the Advent calendars are about to come out to officially begin the Christmas countdown. If you like using wooden calendars with drawers that hold little treats (like I do) then these Christmas Scavenger Hunt Clues are a perfect addition. The clues and riddles make finding the gift a little more exciting!
My son loves a good scavenger hunt so anytime I can incorporate one I do! One of our newest favorites is using these Advent Calendar Scavenger Hunt Cards in the tiny Advent calendar boxes.
I started using an Advent calendar to count down the days until Christmas about 5 years ago when my son was 3. That was about the time he started to have a real understanding of the holiday and the joy and excitement of counting down to Christmas Day. Over the years we’ve used a variety of store-bought themed Advent calendars. Recently, I’ve started a new tradition. I love displaying my beautiful wooden Advent calendar house (picture below) and filling the tiny boxes with a variety of small items, which I will list below, along with a clue to find a bigger gift hidden somewhere in the house.
If my son is well-behaved, he gets to take part in this wonderfully fun scavenger hunt!
In this post, you’ll get some great ideas on how to incorporate our Christmas Scavenger Hunt Clues for Advent calendars and make the Christmas countdown a little more fun.

How To Use These Christmas Scavenger Hunt Clues
Fill your Advent calendar drawers with miscellaneous items. I use items that are small like the ones I listed above. Usually, chocolates, coins, cash, small toys, and water bottle stickers work best. I also cut, fold, and add 1-2 of these printable Christmas Scavenger Hunt Clues per week which will lead to a gift that’s a little bigger. In our house, Mom and Dad are the keepers of Advent calendar fun. Others like to say it’s Santa or the elves that leave the Advent gifts. Either way, it’a fun for everyone!
