If you have kids, you may already have all of these ingredients in your pantry. All you need is fresh strawberries and blueberries, Cool Whip, and your favorite graham crackers!
If you’re staying in this 4th of July, these will make a fun and festive addition to the day’s plans. And, if you’ve got a plan to go out they also make a great take-along snack. What Do I Need?
Box of Original Graham Crackers
Fresh Strawberries
Fresh Blueberries
Cool Whip
Sprinkles (optional)
How Do I Make American Flag Graham Crackers
Wash and dry your fresh fruit. When I have time and I’m not rushed, I like to wash my fruit by soaking them in vinegar and baking soda mixture. I fill a large mixing bowl with cold water, add the fruit, 1 tsp. of baking soda, and about 1/2 cup of vinegar. Swoosh the fruit around with your hands or a wooden spoon and then let them sit for about 10 minutes. If you’re running low on time, skip that part and just rinse and dry the fruit.
Slice strawberries into long rectangular pieces. The strawberries will be used to imitate the stripes on a flag so try to cut them in long, thin strips.
Spread Cool Whip on top of graham crackers. with a small rubber spatula. If you’re making these with kids, they can do this part.
Place blueberries in the upper right corner and the strawberries in lines along the left to imitate the stripes on a flag. Again, kids will love this part where they get to decorate their flag with fresh fruit.
Serve and enjoy!
