Attention all kindergarten parents…I see you. I hear you. Teaching a child to read is hard work. Even harder if your child is homeschooled and it falls completely on you to guide them. After homeschooling my son last year, during the prime pandemic time, I have an even greater appreciation for teachers. Teaching my son to read was one of the most difficult things I have had to do for him as a parent, thus far.
Looking back, I realize that without the correct tools and guidance it can be even more difficult to teach a child how to read. There’s a lot that goes into the beginning steps including letter sounds, vowels, digraphs, trigraphs, blends, phonographs, ending sounds, etc. It’s all very overwhelming.
I have found that when my son writes and utilizes the sight word as it’s intended to be used, there is a greater chance that he remembers it, rther than just looking at it on a flashcard.
As we make our way through the sight word chart, I will release a sight word pack with 2-3 words per pack and they’ll be completely free to download. This week I’m starting with this Sight Word Learning Pack- Many and Have. I recommend keeping a flashcard box to go back and practice the words as you go through the list.

Hi! I’m Meagan and I’m a 41 year old mom of a high energy almost 9 year old, happily navigating my way through the little boy years. I’ve been married for 14 years. I met my husband over 20 years ago in high school; we got married 10 years later after graduating from the University of South Florida. I currently help run a family business with my parents while blogging about my life and love of DIY projects!
When I’m not at a kids sports game, I enjoy spending time with my family on a beach anywhere. I also love decorating and organizing, fun DIY projects, bargain shopping, and eating out or in! I also love Barbecue anything and a good show or movie on Netflix.
