Being a parent is hard, especially when your small child doesn’t behave in the way that our adult brain expects them to behave. Because they are a child, not an adult. This post discusses one of my favorite ways to reinforce good behavior rather than discipline bad behavior. The Pom Pom Jar is a reward system that reinforces your child’s good behavior and has quickly become a household favorite!
I have a young child, and like most parents, at times I’ve struggled with their bad behavior. I’ve tried a lot of different approaches, but nothing seemed to work consistently. That is until I discovered the Pom Pom Jar. This simple tool has transformed our family life. If you’re struggling with your child’s behavior issues and haven’t found something that works for you and your child, I urge you to give the Pom Pom Jar a try. It’s a simple way to reinforce your child’s good behavior, and it’s easy to track.
The Struggle
As you well know parenting has its ups and downs. We all have good days and bad days – sometimes I feel like I rock at being a good parent and other days I know I could do better. The same goes for our kids. They too have their ups and downs and days when they can do better. On a day when my son and I both seemed to be having a “down” day, I confided in another mom that I was at a loss for how to handle my son’s disrespect, acting out, not listening, and sometimes inappropriate behavior.
My son wasn’t responding to taking toys or electronics away. I tried a lot of different approaches, but nothing seemed to work consistently. I was struggling and so was he. That is, until my friend suggested the Pom Pom Jar. This simple tool has transformed our family life. In just a few short weeks I have seen drastic improvement. There is less yelling on my part and more listening on his end. If you’re struggling with your child’s behavior issues and haven’t found something that works for you and your child, I urge you to give the Pom Pom Jar a try. It’s a simple way to reinforce your child’s good behavior, and it’s easy to track.
Pom Pom Jar Reward System
What You Need
Mason or Canning Jar (6oz or 8oz) or something similar in size
How Does it Work?
FIRST– Start with explaining this new rewards system to your child and exactly how it’s going to work. When I first brought it up to my child, we talked about the issues that we’d been having with him not listening and his backtalk. I told him that I wanted to try a new reward system that would hopefully reinforce his listening the first time he’s asked to do something, speaking nicely to Mom and Dad, and a few other issues we were battling.
SECOND- Gather the items with your child or present them when you’ve finished explaining the new system. IT’S VERY SIMPLE and get a pom pom! For example, do something good, speak nicely, listen the first time you’re told, do a random act of kindness, ask permission for things, etc. When the jar is full, they can trade in their pom-poms for a prize.

I have found that with using the Pom Pom Jar Reward System, the key is to be consistent. It does take time to adapt and create a new habit but if you stay consistent- consistently talking about good behavior, good attitudes, and what your expectation level is for your children and your family, I believe that using the Pom Pom Jar rewards system you’ll get there. It’s not foolproof but if your child responds better to positive reinforcement rather than “things” being taken away as a form of discipline, then you may find success with the Pom Pom Jar!
The Pom Pom Jar is a simple tool that can transform family life. It reinforces good behavior in a fun and easy way, and it’s easy to track your progress. Try the Pom Pom Jar and our Good Behavior Coupon Rewards!
