With Earth Day coming on April 22 this year, it’s a fun month to teach young kids about the beauty of the world around us, including all the living things in it. The value of recycling is also a very important concept that, if taught at a young age, can hopefully instill a strong foundation and appreciation for reducing waste. Many of these Earth Day Preschool Activities are simple and fun ideas that can be included in a lesson plan for ages 4-6.
With school out of session, most likely for the remainder of the year, I’m scrambling for at home lesson plans that will get my little one off his tablet. Before starting preschool, we had a pretty consistent schedule of learning activities and outside time. Now, I find myself struggling to try to find a way back to some version of that.

I’ve gathered 6 Earth Day Preschool Activities that are sure to keep your little ones busy while learning about the values of protecting our Earth. Check them out below.
Earth Day Preschool Activities:
- Earth Day Scavenger Hunt
- Plant Flowers Outside
- Earth Day Word Search
- Seed Kits
- Recycling Game & Video/Song
- Book- Fun and Easy Crafting with Recycles Materials
I found some seed kits at Micheals (curbside pick up was still available) and we got to work planting. My son was so intrigued by this activity because it was his first time planting a seed. He kept asking when the flower would show up, unknowing that it’s going to be while!
But I find this to be a great lesson in learning the value of nurturing a living thing, caring for it, and patiently waiting for the tiny seed to sprout. There are some great YouTube videos for preschoolers that I used to teach about the lifecycle of a seed and how a seed becomes a flower. I’ll link them below.

To reuse the Earth Day Scavenger Hunt and Earth Day Word Search, again and again, try laminating them and using dry erase markers. These Earth Day Preschool Activities also help little ones practice letter recognition, spelling, handwriting, and problem-solving.

Hi! I’m Meagan and I’m a 41 year old mom of a high energy almost 9 year old, happily navigating my way through the little boy years. I’ve been married for 14 years. I met my husband over 20 years ago in high school; we got married 10 years later after graduating from the University of South Florida. I currently help run a family business with my parents while blogging about my life and love of DIY projects!
When I’m not at a kids sports game, I enjoy spending time with my family on a beach anywhere. I also love decorating and organizing, fun DIY projects, bargain shopping, and eating out or in! I also love Barbecue anything and a good show or movie on Netflix.

We’ll be making some blue & green slime for earth day too! We just did DIY terrarium necklaces to learn about the water cycle and have a fun spring craft that I think would be fun for Earth Day too!
