Whether you’re looking to add some color to your garden, make thoughtful gifts, or create a fun activity for kids, seed bombs are a great idea.
What Are Flower Seed Bombs?
Seed bombs are like little nature lollipops—shaped like the Earth and packed with flower power. They’re made with only 3 ingredients and can be “planted” in the ground to grow beautiful blooms. They’re a great way to encourage sustainability, boost bee and butterfly populations, and make gardening fun for all ages.
Flower seed bombs are charming, Earth-shaped seed bombs made of construction paper, water, and flower seeds. You “plant” them by sticking them into the soil and giving them water and sunshine. Over time, wildflowers or other blooms burst to life, creating a mini meadow wherever they’re placed.

In this blog post, you’ll find a tutorial on how to make DIY Earth Day Seed Bombs
DIY Earth Day Seed Bombs
Supplies Needed
Green, Brown, & Blue Construction Paper (about 3 sheets of each color)
A variety of flower seeds (wildflowers work great!)
Water
Wax paper or parchment for drying
Twine or ribbon (for gifting)
How to Make Your Seed Bombs:
Create Your Base
Cut or rip the construction paper into 1″ squares and add the pieces to separate bowls.
Add Water
Fill the bowls with water and let the paper sit for about 20 minutes.
Blend It
Place the water and wet paper in a blender and pulse until it’s a pulp-like consistency. Remove from the blender and squeeze excess water out with a paper towel.

Continue this process with each color and then combine the 3 colors of paper into 1 bowl.
Add Seeds
Sprinkle in your flower seeds and mix gently. You can use a mix of wildflowers, bee-friendly blooms, or even herbs.
Form the Bombs
Roll the mixture into golf ball-sized spheres, or press into molds for a uniform shape.
Let Them Dry
Place the seed bombs on wax paper and let them dry for 24–48 hours. Make sure they’re completely dry before storing or planting.
Decorate & Gift
If you’re gifting your seed bombs, wrap them in tissue paper or small cellophane bags and tie with ribbon or twine. Add a cute tag with planting instructions!

Planting Your Seed Bombs
When you’re ready to plant, simply stick the seed bombs into a sunny patch of soil, water it well, and keep it moist while the seeds germinate. In a few weeks, you’ll start to see the magic happen.
