Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned Popsicle in the heat of summer? I used to make them a lot when the kids were little but not so much anymore. Until the other day, that is. When they came in the mail, I decided to make myself this old favorite treat. These DIY Coffee Ice Pops are a perfect adult style refreshing summer treat. [Read more…]
DIY Fabric Covered Books
I recently started my Spring cleaning, fashionably late as always, and when I came across a bunch of old books, I paused. Wondering what to do with them, I seriously considered tossing them. After much deliberation and them sitting on the floor for about a week, I ultimately decided to keep and repurpose them as home decor props around my house. Before strategically placing them around my home I wanted to make them look a little prettier. I grabbed some [Read more…]

7 Beauty Uses for Epsom Salt
Epsom salt is one of my favorite things to always have in the house. It’s so versatile and can be used for some of my favorite DIY projects. Epsom salt is made up of the naturally occurring mineral magnesium sulfate and in water, it breaks down to magnesium and sulfate. While Epsom salt can be used medicinally and has a lot of household uses, it has a long list of beauty benefits. Try these 7 Beauty Uses for Epsom Salt and step up your all-natural beauty routine!
Hand Moisturizer: Mix equal parts Epsom salt and oil. Oils like Vitamin E, almond oil, or baby oil work well.
7 Beauty Uses for Epsom Salt:
- Facial Exfoliator: Add a pinch of salt to face wash for a gentle exfoliator.
- Lip Scrub: Add a few grains salt to oil, gently scrub lips. Rinse.
- Foot Soak: Add ½ C. salt to a basin of warm water. Soak feet for 20 minutes to soften calluses.
- Bug Bite Reliever: To soothe skin irritated by bug bites mix 2 Tbsp Epsom salt into 1 cup water. Spray on or blot on with a cotton ball.
- Hair Treatment: Mix equal parts of hair conditioner and Epsom salt and work into hair. Leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. This treatment gets rid of excess oils and adds volume to hair.
- Stress Relief: One of the best stress relievers for anyone is a long, hot bath. Simply adding 2 C. Epsom salt directly to the bathwater will help eliminate stress by replenishing the body’s magnesium levels. For an extra relaxing bath, make your own bath salts by adding a few extra ingredients. See my last post for a super simple bath salts recipe.

Epsom salt softens the skin, doesn’t dry it out, and doesn’t leave any residue behind when rinsed away. These 7 Beauty Uses for Epsom Salt are just some of the ways to use this super versatile mineral in your beauty and health regimen.
Another bonus, Epsom salt is very affordable and you can buy it just about anywhere. There are different ways of manufacturing Epsom salt and, of course, packaging it, but chemically it’s all the same. There are different grades of this salt depending on whether it’s for human use or agricultural use, but as long as the package is labeled U.S.P. and has a “drug facts” box, it’s for human use and meets FDA standards.

Mostly to save money because my obsession can get to be a little out of control if I let it, but also because I enjoy the thrill of knowing I can recreate the flashy, expensive drinks at [Read more…]
