What I am Thankful For
This last year has been insane. Last July I got engaged and almost everything since then in my life has been wedding or blog related. The wedding is now less than a month away and I’m just trying to make it there at this point.
Amidst all the crazy wedding stuff and getting ready for the holidays, it’s still so important to slow down and take a minute to think about and appreciate everything I am thankful.
And I certainly have a lot to be thankful for in my life.
DIY Holiday Potpourri Gift Jar
One of my favorite things about the holidays are the smells! I love everything from the cinnamon scented pinecones to the all the smells of Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.
So this year I wanted to make something that encompasses some of my favorite smells of the holidays as well as a nice hostess gift for one of the many holiday parties this season.
DIY Yarn Pumpkin Wreath
The fall season kind of snuck up on me this year. Trying to plan a wedding in the middle of the holiday season has not left much room for actual holiday planning. But I’ve been seriously missing that holiday feeling this year so I wanted to come up with an easy craft that could take my mind off wedding stuff and decorate for fall.
I’m sure if you’re inept at crafting you’ve seen the yarn pompom craze that’s been sweeping the internet. But my favorites, are the yarn balls before they become the pompom poof.
First, I made garland inspired by this post, just something simple and cute for me.
DIY Glam Makeup Storage
It’s that time of year when things are in motion – From October to December it feels like a nonstop holiday train. We’re all redecorating and reorganizing for the holidays so why not give a station you use every day a little holiday-esk makeover – your makeup station! Try this simple DIY Glam Makeup Storage makeover to glamorize your makeup station.
October Ipsy Review
For this month’s Ipsy bag I was once again surprised by the contents. I love when I forget to get the preview online. It’s more exciting!
If you don’t know how Ipsy works yet – it is a makeup subscription service for $10 a month. You receive 5 (usually sample size) beauty products corresponding with your personal profile.
Below is my review of this month’s Ipsy Bag:
Trying Harry’s Shave Set
I tried Harry’s shave set for men and guess what? Turns out, women can use it too!
It might seem surprising that a blog all about women would be trying a product very clearly marketed towards men, but you might be surprised at how easily a product like this can translate perfectly for women’s use.
We were sent the Truman starter kit which includes the Truman razor, 2 extra blades, a travel blade cover and shave gel. There’s nothing pink or feminine about it and I think that makes me love it even more. It really allows the products to speak for themselves – and they do.
Why I Buy Cruelty-Free
About a year ago I made the conscious decision to only buy cruelty-free makeup. I’ve mentioned it in other posts before, but I’ve never talked about why.
I have been a vegetarian for about 9 years so I’ve been pretty aware of animal cruelty for a while now. What really changed it for me though was my dog.
Makeup Empties and Reviews
*This post contains affiliate links*
If you are a blogger or a collector of makeup and beauty products like me, you may know how hard it is to actually finish a beauty product. I am constantly trying new products, I receive products from Ipsy and I change it up because I want to see what else is out there. Often times it’s rare that I find a product I like so much I finish it! It’s also rather rare that I finish the product and want to buy it again.
So today I want to talk about my empties and whether or not I would buy them again.
DIY Fall Flower Crowns
It’s officially one of my favorite times of the year: fall!
Since we live in Florida, the fall season is basically nonexistent. The seasons don’t really change here. Sometimes, if we’re lucky, we’ll get a beautiful day with low humidity and a light breeze. Those are the days it feels like fall.
So we do other things to make it feel like fall. Like filling every room with fall decor and pumpkin scented candles. It’s okay, we’re used to it. That’s why when temperatures actually dip below 80 we jump at the chance to wear a cargo jacket and boots, maybe even a scarf.
This fall season I have been inspired to make a fall flower crown. They’re the perfect accessory for a day at the pumpkin patch or a fall festival. It’s super easy to make and you can get most of the materials at the Dollar Tree.
